WATER SUPPLY NOTICE

Today TUDM aircraft will fly over the catechment area of Gunung Serapi, Sungai Sarawak Kiri, Asajaya, Simunjan and Sri Aman Bayai. Cloud seeding will be conducted whenever suitable clouds are available over the above areas.

The additional rain today in the catchment areas of Sungai Sarawak Kiri has brought much relief to the water supply situation in Kuching. As the water level has risen to an acceptable level, the water regulation is hereby postponed indefinitely.

The cloud seeding exercise has begun today and Kuching Water Board will monitor the situation very closely.

The rain last night in the catchment areas of Sungai Sarawak Kiri has brought some respite to the water supply situation in Kuching. The water level has risen fairly but the situation remains worrying.

In view of the new development, Kuching Water Board has decided to postpone the water regulation as scheduled on the 21 July 2015 until further notice, pending precipitation in the catchment areas.

However, the consumers are advised to continue to use water sparingly and to avoid using water to wash vehicles, watering the lawns and filling pools/ponds.

The rain last night in the catchment area has brought some respite to the water supply situation in Kuching. However, the rise in the water level is not as much as we have hoped for. The water level still remains critical.

We are monitoring the situation very closely and shall continue to update our consumers as soon as we have new information.

The prevailing severe drought in the catchment areas of Sungai Sarawak Kiri has resulted in the drop of raw water level to CRITICAL level.  As such, Kuching Water Board is compelled to regulate the water supply in the following areas, if there is no precipitation in the catchment areas in the next few days:

Bau, Rambungan, Sempadi and Puncak Borneo – All areas along Batu Kitang Road to Bau Bazaar, Rambungan and Sempadi  areas,  and all areas after Pusat Latihan Polis (Pulapol) Puncak Borneo.

Matang  - All areas after the Red Bridge to Kampung Telaga Air and Red Bridge to Kampung Rambungan to Batu Kawa/Lundu junction

Samarahan and Asajaya – All areas from UITM gyratory to Kampung Tanjung Parang and UITM gyratory to Kota samarahan until Asajaya and Sadong Jaya

Kuching -Serian – All areas along Jalan Kuching-Serian from Kota Padawan  to Siburan

The water supply to the above areas will be regulated on alternate day basis commencing shutdown from 9:00 am on the 21 July 2015 (Tuesday) to 9:00 am on the 22 July 2015 (Wednesday). Water Supply will resume at 9:00 am 22 July 2015 (Wednesday) to 9:00 am 23 July 2015 (Thursday) and so forth until further notice.

Consumers in those areas are advised to store sufficient water for the above water regulation and to use water sparingly and to avoid using water to wash vehicles, watering the lawns and filling pools/ponds.

The consumers at high grounds in Kuching City may experience low water pressure.
