The Board is responsible for the administration, management and supervision of all waterworks situated within its area of supply and the primary function of the Board is to ensure that an adequate production and supply of quality treated water to consumers within its area of supply and to meet the increasing demand brought about by development and growth in the area.

In accordance with Section 18 (3) - (4) of the Water Ordinance 1994, the general functions of the Kuching Water Board as a Water Supply Authority are as follows:-
